Admitted OSU Students can apply anytime. They are placed on the waitlist until we are ready to admit. Students who are starting in the fall will be admitted in May and June and are required to attend summer bridge in September before classes start and enroll in the TRIO SSS Student Success course during fall term. If we have space, we will admit students again at end of Fall term or beginning of Winter term. For Fall term admits -Students should apply as soon as they are admitted to OSU and have an OSU ID as we are usually done admitting in June.

Students have to be seeking a degree with a plan to graduate from Southwestern. We won’t take students who plan to transfer prior to graduating. We do accept students in CTE programs, and also students who have a prior degree but are returning for a totally different field – typically nursing.

Summer Bridge: No, but we do have a ¾ day TRIO Connect orientation session the Friday before school starts in the Fall once students are on campus. We also we offer a specific TRIO Transfer Seminar where students can earn 1 upper-division credit.

Classic: Students are able to apply year round for our program. The program usually reaches capacity by December, but we maintain a waiting list.
Teachers Prep: We accept applications year-round, but the majority of our new participants apply for our program during the summer months.
Additional Requirements for Eligibility:
Classic: We do give preference for students who have previous TRIO affiliation (Upward Bound, Talent Search, SSS etc.)
Teachers Prep: Declare Education as their major. If they change majors, they are not required to exit the program.
Summer Bridge: NO, WOU hosts a summer bridge program, not the TRIO program.
