Through its academic, financial, social, and cultural supportive services, TRIO programs have allowed an estimated 5 million low-income, first-generation students, and students with disabilities to enter and graduate college. To help create a stronger network of TRIO alumni, the Council for Opportunity in Education has developed several alumni initiatives.
National TRIO Achievers
What do an astronaut, award-winning actress, college president, and TV writer/producer have in common? They have all been National TRIO Achievers. COE is seeking nominations for the 2019 awards. Do you know of any outstanding TRIO alumni who you would like to nominate for this year’s competition? COE recognized several outstanding National TRIO Achievers during the Educational Opportunity Dinners in Washington, D.C., in 2017, and in New York in 2018, and Chicago in 2019.
